Singapore Bird Atlas
26 March 2026
Partner with us to create Singapore's first comprehensive bird population study.

The Singapore Bird Atlas is a five-year initiative to systematically map and monitor every bird species across our island nation.
Led by NParks' Wildlife Management Research team, this comprehensive study will engage citizen scientists and experienced surveyors to conduct standardised point-count surveys across various locations, from urban spaces to nature reserves.
Using advanced hierarchical distance sampling methods, the atlas will provide robust population estimates and distribution maps for Singapore's bird community—establishing the definitive reference for avian conservation and management.
Why Support the Singapore Bird Atlas?
Scientific Foundation: Create Singapore's first standardised, research-grade bird population database, replacing outdated references with robust, evidence-based conservation data that will guide national biodiversity strategies for decades.
Conservation Impact: Enable targeted protection of threatened species listed in Singapore's Red Data Book whilst providing critical data for managing invasive species and assessing climate change impacts on local bird populations.
Community Engagement: Engage experienced volunteers from established bird societies such as Nature Society of Singapore and Bird Society of Singapore to create a sustainable model for long-term ecological monitoring.
Multi-Purpose Applications: Provide robust data to support bio-surveillance and disease modelling (including Avian Influenza), and assess the effectiveness of our Environmental Protection Enhancements across Singapore's evolving landscape.
